ECO Window Systems Window Installation: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
ECO Window Systems window installation in Orlando typically runs $450 to $1,300 per opening for a full replacement, while a glass-only swap lands between $180 and $420. That price includes the new unit or glass, labor, flashing, and haul-away of the old sash. We install ECO-compatible windows and doors across the city, and most single-opening jobs are done in a day.
Most Orlando homeowners call us because they’ve found condensation between the panes, a crank handle that spins without moving the sash, or a window that suddenly won’t seal against afternoon rain. Humidity here is brutal on window hardware. The ECO Window Systems line is solid, but when a seal fails or a balance spring snaps after ten to fifteen years, the fastest fix is knowing exactly which part you’re dealing with, not guessing at the big box store.
One thing we hear a lot: “Can you just fix the sash instead of pulling the whole frame?” Usually, yes. ECO windows are built with a modular design, so many repairs use the original frame and just replace the glass pack, hardware, or weatherstripping. That’s what keeps the price in the range above instead of triple.
Juniper Windows Orlando is an independent installer and repair provider, not affiliated with ECO Window Systems. We stock their parts because we’ve installed their windows for years and know what holds up in Central Florida weather, and what doesn’t.
Which ECO Window Systems Models This Applies To
ECO Window Systems builds a few distinct lines, and the part you need depends on which series you have. The most common in Orlando homes are the ECO 5000 series (a mid-range vinyl double-hung and casement line), the ECO Impact series (rated for hurricane zones), and the ECO 7000 series (their premium line with narrower sightlines and better U-factor ratings). Each series uses different balance springs, locking hardware, and glazing beads, so a part from a 5000 will not always fit a 7000.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha we see on service calls weekly: ECO changed their balance spring profile sometime in the mid-2010s. Windows manufactured before the change use a 5/8-inch coil spring in the block, newer units use a 9/16-inch. The difference is a sixteenth of an inch, but the wrong one binds in the channel and you’ll feel the sash fight you on the way up. We check the date code on the corner of the glass before we order anything.
To identify your window, look at the lower left corner of the sash from the inside. ECO etches a small code there that tells you the series, glass type, and manufacture date. If it’s worn or you can’t read it, send us a photo from your phone and we’ll match it from the frame profile. It takes us a couple of minutes.
On OEM versus aftermarket: ECO’s own parts are good, but their lead times for individual components run three to five weeks in our experience. For most jobs, a quality aftermarket equivalent, from a Florida supplier we’ve used for over a decade, gets the window working correctly at about 60 to 70 percent of the OEM price. We’re upfront about which one we’re installing and why. If you want OEM-only, we’ll quote it that way.
Signs Your ECO Window Systems Window Installation Is Failing
- Fog or condensation between the glass panes: The seal on the insulated glass unit has failed. In Orlando humidity, this shows up faster than most manufacturers say it will, and there’s no way to clean it out. The glass pack needs replacement, not the whole window.
- The sash drops or slams shut when you let go: A balance spring or block has snapped. ECO springs last a long time, but when one goes, the sash becomes a real hazard, especially for kids or anyone with windows over a bed or sofa.
- The crank turns but the window doesn’t move: On ECO casement windows, this is almost always a stripped operator gear or a broken arm connection. It’s a simple parts fix if you catch it early, before the hardware gets forced repeatedly and the frame torque-warped.
- Water pools on the sill after a storm: It’s usually the weep hole or the weatherstripping at the bottom of the sash has flattened. But it can also mean the frame seal to your wall opening has failed entirely, which is an installation issue, not a window issue. We diagnose both.
- You can hear road noise or feel a draft with the window closed: The compression seal has lost its memory. ECO’s seal material is decent, but after ten-plus years in a Florida sun exposure window, it gets stiff and leaves a small gap that invites heat and humidity in.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what Orlando homeowners should expect for ECO Window Systems window installation work, installed, with Juniper Windows Orlando:
- Full window replacement (vinyl, single opening): $450 to $1,300, depending on size, series, and whether impact glass is required.
- Glass-only replacement (insulated glass unit swap, same frame): $250 to $550 per sash.
- Balance spring replacement (per sash): $95 to $185, parts and labor.
- Crank operator replacement (casement): $140 to $290, parts and labor.
- Weatherstripping replacement (single window): $75 to $160.
- New locks and locking hardware: $60 to $120 per window.
Those numbers include the part or window, labor, flashing or sealant as needed, a written invoice, and haul-away of the old materials. What drives the range is the size of the opening, whether the window is egress, ground-floor, or above the second story, and whether you need impact-rated glass, which is required by code in certain Orlando areas and always costs more. We don’t change the price once it’s written. If we find a problem inside your wall, like rotted framing or an old aluminum window that was originally installed wrong, we stop, show you photos, and give you a new number before any add-on work happens.
Every ECO installation carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the window or the work isn’t right within a year, parts and labor, we make it right. That’s in writing on every project.
DIY or Call Us?
If you’re comfortable with a screwdriver, some ECO Window Systems repairs are genuinely doable: swapping a snapped lock, replacing a crank handle, or installing a new bug-seal weatherstrip. These are low-risk, low-consequence jobs. What we wouldn’t recommend doing yourself is anything that touches the balance spring, because a loaded ECO block is under constant tension and it can send a plastic carrier flying when it releases wrong. We’ve seen a few bloody knuckles and one cracked bathroom mirror from a DIY balance spring gone wrong.
Also, don’t attempt any glazing or glass swap on your own. The glass pack is heavy, and if your window is a large fixed unit, getting the old one out and the new one in without twisting the frame takes two people and a suction cup set. We handle all of it same-visit in most cases. If you want us to take a look and quote it, call (850) 679-8554, and Sean Mackey or one of our techs will talk you through what we think before we even schedule the truck.
FAQs
ECO Window Systems windows in Orlando typically last 15 to 25 years, but the insulated glass seal often fails at the 10-to-15-year mark in our climate. The frame and hardware can outlast the glass pack. We see more seal failures on west-facing windows because the afternoon sun amplifies the thermal expansion and contraction that weakens the seal. Replacing just the glass pack will often give the window another decade of use. If your windows are older than 15 years, we can assess whether it’s worth the glass-only cost or if a full replacement makes more sense. Call (850) 679-8554 and we’ll help you decide.
Most ECO Windows Systems windows in Orlando are repairable without replacing the whole window. We regularly replace glass packs, balance springs, weatherstripping, and operators in the original frame. Full replacement is only the right call when the frame itself is warped or rotted, or when you’re upgrading to impact glass and the existing frame isn’t rated for it. We’ll show you the frame condition before recommending either direction. Call (850) 679-8554 for a free assessment.
A single ECO Window Systems window replacement or glass swap in Orlando takes 1 to 2 hours on site for most standard openings. Larger jobs or multiple windows are usually finished in a day. We give you a written arrival window, show up on time, and send before-and-after photos so you can see the work was done right. To schedule and get your price, call (850) 679-8554.
We stock the most common ECO Window Systems parts on our trucks in Orlando: balance springs, crank operators, locking hardware, and standard insulated glass sizes. Less common sizes or older series parts may need to be ordered, which typically takes 3 to 7 days for our suppliers. We’ll tell you up front if a part is in stock or on order before we schedule the work. Call (850) 679-8554 and we’ll check availability while you’re on the phone.
